My name is Michael Polunsky, and I have spent the majority of my life on and around the water. Over the past few years, I have held a few different jobs on what I like to call my "home lake". I have experience in the rental business, the marina business, and the chartering business. Of the three, my favorite was working on the local charter boats. Each day, I would clean and prepare the boats for the coming cruises. We had public cruises where the public could purchase tickets and take a cruise (or sail depending on the boat you choose) around the lake. When we had special events, there were always interesting people to talk to and you were sure to always learn something new.
Why I write this blog.
People ask me why I do what I do, meaning, why I write this blog. Whether it was working with rental customers, working with new boat owners on the docks at the marina, or just talking while on a public cruise, my favorite thing to do was teach others about boating. When you look on the internet, there are not many boating sources for information and lessons like there are for cars or even planes. I am here to help fill that gap. I have noticed over the past few years that there are many people that know just the basics of boating and there are even some that are scared of boating. I want to one, teach those who know very little how to use their boat to its full potential, and two, teach those who are scared that it can be a very safe and, at the same time, fun sport.
