As I said earlier this year, I have every intention to start to blog about sailing. I know that most either love it or hate but I think that it is important for all boaters to have a basic understanding of how it works and the basic parts. I certainly don't know as much as some, but I feel that I have introduced myself enough to be able to take over should something happen while on the water with a sailor, and that was my whole intention of learning.
The two basic sails on a sailboat are the main and the jib. The main is just as it sounds, it is the bigger of the two and used most of the time. The jib is used when you need just a little bit more power or "sail area".
Up next, other parts of a sailboat that are different or nonexistent on a power boat.
