Towing Tip #1

One of the biggest fears of some of the boaters who trailer are the bearings in the wheels, more specifically, having them overheat and freezing up.  If you will be towing a long distance, stop by your local hardware store and pick up an infrared thermometer, (ya, one of those gun looking things with the laser that tells temperature from a distance.) Each time you stop, shoot the gun at each of the bearings.  Note the temperatures the first time you stop and use those to compare at each other stop.  If you see one temperature is much higher than the others, that wheel may have a problem.

This is the model that I have.  It even has a laser pointer so that you can tell exactly what you are taking the temperature of.
