Foul Weather Gear

Foul weather gear (often also called Foulies)  is often something that can be overlooked when stocking your boat will all the necessary items.  I recently experienced a storm while at the lake that I wished I had foul weather gear.  When you are out in the middle of a rain storm and all you have is the clothes on your back, it is one of the worst feelings ever, especially if you had no intentions of getting wet.

Luckily it was not a day that I had taken the boat out but one that I had just gone to the marina to check on the boat and let the engine run, but none the less, it was still pretty bad.  When I used to work on the charter boats I would never leave the dock without my rain coat and a change of clothes, most cruises I didn't need it but I was lucky I had it on some nights.  I always knew that I had nothing to loose and would always keep it in my backpack that I took on the boat.

Since I was just on inland lakes I didn't buy very expensive ones but just enough to keep me dry.  In fact, most of the time I would only wear the jacket but I always had the pants with me.  Some said that my jacket wasn't even considered foul weather gear but just a rain jacket, actually it was, I knew that since I would always be close to shore all I needed to do was keep dry for a short period of time.  Now, if I ever go down into a bigger body of water I will definitely get me a better set.

Many outdoor stores carry many different kinds of foul weather gear.  Go and pick you up a set before its too late and you wish you had.
